On a relatively boring Trade Deadline day, the Islanders have sent forward Bill Guerin to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a conditional 5th round draft pick. The pick becomes a 4th round pick if Pittsburgh makes the playoffs, and a 3rd rounder if Pittsburgh wins a round an Guerin plays half of the games in that round.
Jon Sim has been sent to Bridgeport, and Nate Thompson has been activated from the Injured Reserve.
