An amazing first pre-season game has come to an end.
The Isles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Freddy Meyer slipped the puck past Hedberg at 3:45. The Thrashers then tied it up when Joey Crabb put a power play goal behind MacDonald. Atlanta made it 3-1 when Brett Sterling and Joey Crabb put in goals. But just 29 seconds later, Matt Spliller got the Isles to a 1 goal deficit.
Spiller tied up the game at 3 when he blasted another one past Hedberg.
The game then went to OT, and the game was over when Exelby got it past MacDonald.
An entertaining first game, for sure. Although we could have done better, we did play very well.
My 3 Stars:
1. Joey Crabb
2. Joey MacDonald
3. Matthew Spiller
Notes from the game:
-Vasicek and Simon played very well, and knew what they were doing during their chance on a top line.
-Tambellini played well also, and was credited with an assist that he definitely deserved.
-MacDonald was exceptionally good, played the full game and kept the Islanders in it.
-If you were upset with the amount of penalties the Isles took last year, get prepared for a disturbing repeat.
-Tomorrow- Bruins @ Islanders, 7:00 PM.
Let's Go Islanders!!!
